A semi-biographical movie about post-war period in finland and 80s AIDS crisis in the USA. It’s leaning a bit too much on the art-house post-modernistic not-rhyming vinegret of a timeline and PTSD flashbacks to the war, but overall it’s watchable.

The acting overall is fine, but the real Tom looked much better and manlier than Pekka Strang, who looks like a hungry fish which survived concentration camp.

Though, it should have featured a little bit more of the art (say, on par with the Big Eyes movie) and exchange (at least some of) the post-modernistic editing to the post-post-modernistic\meta-modernistic stylization. Which is already kinda there with him seeing his character from time to time. And which also is the main feature of this artist’s works, basically being a kind of the spiritual sequel to the riace warriors, and predating overly ripped and dry Mr. Olympia craze.

As far as Oscars are nominating the movies by the merit of the tokenism, they at least can take this as an okay one, over some made-up soppy garbage which they will definitely nominate instead.
