Steam world heist is yet another 2-action game but in the popular degenerate XCOM flavour, this time in TWODEE. Though ricochet and sway mechanics are very good. Meta-game comprised of 3-stars and hats grinding. Level progression is mostly linear, but some abilities\guns\accessories have interesting synergies. Storyline is completely utilitarian and it seems that the first game led to the destruction of earth, so this game takes place hundreds of years down the line.
Controls are totally garbage but they are tolerable since the game is turn-based. Visual design is mostly good and diverse, with game working in UHD, UWS, surround out of the box. Sound design is pretty good while music and ambient are quite irritating.
Overall it is a serviceable game, but can't offer anything unique nor excels at what it tries to be.
SteamWorld Heist: The Outsider
DLC adds one interesting character, a lot of guns, new hats and even new levels. It even adds some new dialogue, so for the amount of content it's a must-buy. But also it's offensive in the same way Mass Effect 3: From Ashes is.
